Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Being one of Birmingham’s best attractions The Birmingham Botanical Gardens really does offer something for everyone.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

You can enjoy a fantastic range of facilities and activities including:

Four Glasshouses

With over 1000 accessions, the glasshouses are home to many exotic and unusual plants that are not found in many places in the U.K. The four glasshouses range from an exotic Tropical House through to a Subtropical, Mediterranean and Arid Houses. There is also a large lawn in front of the glasshouses with a range of beds and shrubberies around it's perimeter, perfect for those family photos. Overall, the character is that of a Victorian public park with a bandstand set in 15 acres (6.1 ha) of landscaped greenery. Read all about the glasshouses here.

Butterfly House

The Butterfly House at Birmingham Botanical Gardens is home to an array of colourful tropical butterflies from as far as the Philippines, Central America and tropical parts of Africa. Watch these stunning butterflies drinking from exotic, scented, nectar-rich tropical plants such as Lantana, Trachelospermum and Heliotrope. Read more here.

Tea Room

On the Loudon Terrace stands the Pavilion Tea Room, the perfect place to soak up the sun or relax in the shade and enjoy a refreshing drink and a bite to eat. Find updated opening times here.

Fantastic Playground

The playground at Birmingham Botanical Gardens is fantastic and has something for all ages. From climbing structures to a giant tunnel slide, and even a sandpit play area! Find out more here.

Visiting Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Opening times

  • The Gardens are open every day, except Christmas Day and Boxing Day, from 10.00 am.
  • October to March: The Gardens close at 5.00 pm (last entry at 4.30pm – the gift shop will close 15 mins before closing).
  • April to September: Doors close at 6.00pm Weekdays and 7pm on Weekends (the Gardens will close at dusk if earlier – the gift shop will close 15 mins before closing).

Admission Prices:

  • Family - £22
  • Adult - £7.50
  • Children over 5 - £5.25
  • Children under 5 - FREE

Parking at Birmingham Botanical Gardens:

  • Non-members/visitors pay £2 per car
  • Members Free parking
  • Blue badge holders Free Parking
  • All visitors and Members need to register their vehicles in reception.

Accessibility:

  • Excellent wheelchair and pushchair access throughout the Gardens and Glasshouses
  • Baby changing facilities are available
